Where to Find the Third Killer Clue
The third killer clue is situated in the state of Lemoyne, south of the town of Rhodes and east of Braithwaite Manor. As you explore this region, pay close attention to the area around the Scarlett Meadows label on your map. You will spot a large, distinctive tree with a gruesome crime scene displayed around its trunk.
Approaching the tree reveals a dismembered body suspended from the branches alongside bloody markings. To retrieve the clue, circle around to the backside of the tree where a severed head is attached to a wooden stake. Interacting with the head allows Arthur Morgan to extract the final piece of the pieced-together map.
Investigating the Crime Scene Effectively
Locating the third clue requires careful observation, especially if you arrive at night when visibility is low. Activating Arthur's Eagle Eye ability will highlight nearby blood trails and key points of interest in yellow. Following the trail of blood along the ground will guide you directly to the exact location of the severed head.
It is worth noting that crime scenes can sometimes trigger subtle atmospheric cues, such as eerie music or flying scavengers nearby. If the crime scene does not seem to trigger, ensure you have progressed past Chapter 2 or try visiting the area during different times of day.
Assembling the Map and Confronting the Killer
Once you collect the third fragment, all three pieces automatically combine into a single readable map. Examining the completed document reveals a set of coordinates and a combination code written in blood. The drawing points directly to Lucky's Cabin, an abandoned, burned-out property located just southwest of Valentine.
Heading to the cabin reveals a locked storm cellar door that can now be opened using the combination from the map. Inside the dark basement, players will confront the killer, Edmund Lowry Jr., and bring an end to his reign of terror. Completing this dark investigation rewards players with a unique encounter and a monetary bounty from the local sheriff.
